An open letter to composers wishing to submit scores for our consideration:

We are always happy to read new works. As you can imagine, though, we get a lot of inquiries and unsolicited scores, and we have had some unpleasant misunderstandings. So we have to make the following points plain:

We can't pay for the parts, and your offer to send them does not constitute a commission on our part.

We do not promise to perform the piece in public. If we do, you'll certainly hear from us.

We can't be held to a timetable. We read when we get a chance, and that chance is sometimes a long time coming.

We can't promise a detailed analysis or commentary on your work.

We will not proofread, edit the parts, or resolve inacurracies between the score and parts.

We hate to sound condescending or rude, but all of the above (and more) has been expected of us in the past, and we have a lot of horror stories. That said, we ARE enthusiastic about discovering new and wonderful works for the quintet. If we're on the same page with our mutual expectations, we'd be happy to look at your piece.
